Just a short drive from the charming canal city of Aveiro and about 50 minutes from historical Coimbra, you’re perfectly placed for day trips into Portuguese culture and heritage. The vibrant city of Porto is just over an hour away, while the spiritual centre of Fátima can be reached in around 1 hour 15 minutes — ideal for meaningful excursions. Coastal favourites like Figueira da Foz are nearby, and longer drives bring you to Portugal’s iconic capitals, including Lisbon. From serene beaches and historic towns to mountains like Serra da Estrela and cultural hubs dotted throughout the country, your stay here opens the door to a rich mosaic of Portuguese experiences.

About Your Host
I am a first-generation Canadian, raised in a Portuguese family whose traditions, stories, and deep connection to the land shaped who I am. Though I grew up in Canada, Portugal was always present — in the language spoken at our table, the food we shared, the music that filled our home, the quiet reverence for nature, and the longing for the sound of waves and the feel of sand beneath our feet.
Returning to Portugal was not simply a move — it was a homecoming. Drawn by the Atlantic coastline and a slower, more intentional rhythm of life, I brought to life Vila Rola Co. as a reflection of everything I value: simplicity, authenticity, and a deep connection to place.
Through our coastal retreat, I offer guests more than just a place to stay — it is an invitation to experience Portugal in a way that feels personal and meaningful. From the natural beauty of the surroundings to the calm, restorative pace of life, every detail is designed to create a sense of warmth, ease, and belonging.

"Vila Rola is a beautiful 2-bedroom gem in the quiet town of Mira, just 4 km from the ocean. It’s the perfect base for cycling or peaceful walks along the lagoon and the many surrounding paths.
We loved the serenity of village life here—peaceful, yet with everything you need close by. Shops, cafés, and amenities are within a 20-minute walk or just a 5-minute drive. The local Mira market and Continente supermarket have everything you could need. We also enjoyed visiting the outdoor markets in Portomar and Tocha, which are full of local charm and fresh regional produce.
You truly get the best of Portugal here. The house is so well appointed that it left us wanting for nothing.
Just an hour away is Porto, and only 20 minutes away is the stunning “Portuguese Venice,” Aveiro. Beautiful day trips to wine regions, castles, and historic towns are all within 30–60 minutes.
